From what i know with my nephew, we told him big boys wear real pants, and if he wanted to become big and strong likea big boy he'd have to stop wearing them... it took some time but hes 3 now and hes wearing pants!! oh and you have to make him think his pampers are real dirty .. and if he doesnt take them off spiders will go inside. sounds scary for a 3year old, but it works!!

Take all your pampers and throw them away. Never put on pull ups or diapers again. Make sure you are taking him to the bathroom every 30 minutes. When he uses the potty make a very big deal out of it. Give him a special treat. Toy or candy whatever he prefers. Nothing to drink two hours before he goes to bed. The biggest thing that helped me was when they soil there panties or in his case his underwear Don't make a big deal out of it. My daughter has been potty trained since she was 19 months it takes time. Trust me its hard at first but it works. No diapers at bed time either. Good luck and just stick with it.

As long as he doesn't have any reasons he can't potty train, physically I mean, try this. I told the 5 year old I lived with (with his parents permission) that unless he was being a big boy (wearing underwear and using the potty) he couldn't do big boy things. Big boy things were watching non-educational cartoons, playing video games, helping me cook, etc. It only took once or twice before he realized he didn't want to be left out of what I was doing before he started using the potty.

When I was training my son, I let him run naked around the back yard. I was actually surprised at how quickly it worked. We had a potty chair outside for him and within about a day, he was using it. When he went inside, we put a couple of cheerios in the potty. He had a blast trying to hit the cheerios and was looking forward to going potty. I think it also helped his aim ;)

I potty trained both boys in the summer. I simply let them run around outdoors without pants and had a potty chair handy. It took 3-4 days. Rewards for getting it right, naturally.

Skip the pull ups, just go straight for the training pants. Pull ups are diapers for bigger kids. If they know they can pee/poop in them, they will. Maybe take a week and go naked the whole week (or just training pants and no other pants over them) and give him a lot of juice and take him to the potty every 30 minutes and give big praises every time he goes.

Don't give them to him, but be prepared to clean up after him. I remember my sister doing that with her son. Each time he peed, she gently reminded him that pee pees go in the potty, and presented the small baby toilet for him to sit on. She only did it for an hour or so at a time. And she didn't have any carpets in her home so cleanup was pretty easy.

You can have his daddy show him how to go in the potty and let him know big boys wear underware, make it fun get a thing where he can reward himself after by putting starts on a chart everytime he goes pee in the potty. Get him underware that have his favorite cartoon or action figure on them.

I have an e-book that someone sent me on potty training. I haven't tried it yet (just got it yesterday), but I was telling a friend about it and she had it and used it on both of her kids and they were out of diapers (and pull ups) in 3 days. Email me if you want me to send it to you.

Dr. Phil had a "fail proof" strategy: have your son's favorite character (Spider Man/Sponge Bob/Super Man, etc) call him and tell him to use the potty. He swore it works 100% of the time. I have never tried it and personally feel that it probably doesn't work on everyone. But it's worth a shot...
