The Enigma code machine was used to encrypt messages. It existed long before any practical programming languages, and therefore compilers, existed.

They really don't have much in common. The Enigma machine was strictly for encryption/decryption of message from/to humans. The MS compilers translate a stylized set of instructions (source code) into something that a computer can execute.
