Good question.
My theory is that in order to keep the their power, governments need to divide people as much as possible. If all people in america were united behind a single cause - that would be very frightening to the people in charge.
So we get repub/democrat liberal/conservative, etc. Rarely have I heard anything more intelligent than "aren't those guys stoopid?" in terms of debate, which has become - who can shout the loudest?

What an excellent question! I am actually surprised we haven't come to violence yet, and I do suspect it will happen someday. As to what causes it...not a clue I'm afraid. I am a Democrat, but yet I get a long quite well with Republicans and dislike some Democrats. All parties have their idiots and I tend to dislike idiots in general no matter what party they label themselves.
I think it has become almost like rooting for sports teams. You "know" your team is the best and you will tell anyone and everyone that you think that. It keeps escelating with no end in sight and it's all quite silly.

I found out , I lose Friends that way, but its OK , there's plenty of
Liberals out there.

Honestly, it's the emotions the net brings out in people who can punish each other verbally all day long without having to defend themselves physically.
That's all -- the longwinded cowards of the net. They skew the real picture.

Republicans hate Democrats because of their constant attempts to ruin our great nation. Democrats hate Republicans because they get in the way of the Democrats' constant attempts to ruin our great nation.
