I love the song and just wanted to know the story behind it. I missed them on Kidd Kradick when they were in Dallas.

The singer wrote the song for his mother, who he realizes after the fact, that he took advantage of her kindness and love while he recovered from a bout with some heavy duty alcoholism. It's kind of like his apology/slash advice on how she should deal with their relationship so that she isn't taken for granted again.
