This depends on the specific dogs and cats. Dogs LOVE to chase down other animals. If dogs and cats are not used to being around either there is going to be some friction due to the fact that dogs LOVE to play yet are very territorial and cats are VERY territorial as well. If you have a dog and want it to behave well around cats, I highly recommend that you get it used to being aroudn cats while it is still young. (and vice versa)

Its natural for dogs and cats to fight. Maybe they are bored.

not all dogs and cats fight.. our dog gets along pretty well with most cats..

Becuase they like to play and they like the dominance role of being bigger or smaller.
