I tried geting everything from my old documents folder on xp to my new documents folder on xp. but it keeps telling me access denied...does anyone know why and how to over ride this?

It sounds like you are trying to access the hard drive from an old computer. What you need to do is boot into safe mode and them remove all of the permissions on that folder. Make sure the changes affect all subfolders.

I hate when this happens. Try this clever maneuver:

Do a search and look for the type of documents that are in that folder. For instance, if you had picture files in that folder you would then have .jpg files and you could do a search on that. If they were Word files, then you could do a .doc search. Do the search and then snag the files over to that new folder. Maybe that folder or that part of the disc is corrupt. Hopefully you can get around it.

I'm not sure at what part you are getting this message. Try copying all your docs onto a CD or a flash drive (jump drive). Then on the other computer take the data from the drive and drag it into your docs folder.
