Never. They are unsafe. Try an exesaucer instead. It is stationary and you don't have to worry about where your kid is.

I put both mine in one when they could control their head good. That being around 5 or 6 months. But some doctors are saying that walkers are bad that they delay walking, because they cant learn to keep their balance in a walker which makes since, but my kids had one and one walked at 12 months and the other at 13 months.

I was recently looking at walkers and then read that they are probably not a good idea. According to researchers at The Parent Review walkers "develop the wrong muscles at the wrong time and eliminating the learning a baby achieves during crawling, walkers can actually delay real walking." I thought the information might be worth considering because it did change my mind about them.

I do not suggest using a walker since they can be so dangerous, but you are mom and will do what you feel is right for your child. He can be in a walker when he can hold his head and upper body up and his little feet touch the floor. My guess would be between 4 and 5 months, unless he is a little peanut.Good luck!

Personally I think it's best for children to start walking when they are ready. This means after crawling they pull up, after pulling up they cruise, after cruising they stand, after standing they walk. There have been studies that have shown children who use walkers end up walking later in life merely because of the convenience of the walker. There are also studies that show bearing too much wait on a baby's legs before they are ready will deform bone structure. I'm not too much for studies but these seem legit to me. It's up to you but soon enough your child will really crawl, then he'll pull up, and then he'll walk--I wouldn't try to rush it. Try a stationary toy like an exersauser or a enstien baby toy. There will be plenty of time for him to walk later on. My son would bear weight on his legs at two months. It was cute but I didn't want to stress the issue by forcing him to walk.
In the end it's up to you. You are the mother. You call the shots. Make sure you get as much information as possible about the positive and negative effects of walkers--there is a lot out there. As parents I feel we owe it to our infants to make educated decisions.
Best of Luck to you!

I put my son in one at around 5 months. When I felt like he was holding his head up good enough. Depends on how fast your son learns to hold himself up good enough to sit in a walker. Some babies can hold their heads up at an early age and some are bit later in learning that. You have to judge for yourself when you think he is ready.

First of all walkers have to be supervised very closely. Your baby should be able to support his head on his own, this usually occurs around 4 - 6 months. His feet also need to be touching the base of the walker. You could opt for an exersaucer which is not mobile. 12 weeks is quite young for anything that is an upright seat. Just for the sake of his neck I would wait.

Probably like at 5 or 6 months, depending how strong they are, and how much head control they have.

When he can support his head.If he does slump over a little bit, you can put a small pillow in front of him to help him set up straight.
