I am 24 yr old man who has trouble stopping myself from watching porn. Right now, I masturbate and watch porn at least once a week and I want to put an end to that. But porn is incredibly addictive and hard to quit.
I have managed to stay away from drugs, alcohol, tobacco, sex because of constant warnings from the media and people about its dangerous, addictive sides. But I NEVER got any warnings about porn.
I am not trying to deviate my responsiblity for getting into this problem. I accept full responsiblity for getting into this problem. I am just saying that had I been given warnings about addictive side of porn, I would have stayed away from it or at least watched it with cautions.
Why don't people, media warn about addictive sides of porn? Thanks in advance for any insights.

The media has warned people about porn. It has been doing this for years. You seem to have an addictive personality. That's what needs to be treated. If you can't stop an action, it's an addiction. There are addiction clinics everywhere.

How to avoid porn addiction on the Internet

1. Consider installing porn content filtering software( Strongly Recommend NetDog ,you can get it from www.netdogsoft.com ) on your computer. it will help to protect you from stumbling into pornography by accident, That's important.

2. Do not try to guess what the address of a Web page is. Many pornographic sites have similar addresses of respectable sites. For example www . whitehouse . com is a porn site. The real address is www. whitehouse . gov

3. Never click on Web site addresses that you receive in an unsolicited email.

4. Do not open attachments that come in email that are unsolicited.

5. Use filtered search engines or reputable directories to find the information you need.

6. Do not search for terms like girls. Think before you enter a search term.

Stick with reputable sites.
If something looks questionable, don't let curiosity get the best of you. Delete it or close the window.

i really commend you for recognizing and trying to stop or reduce this problem! i think the media doesn't warn about porn's addictive side because people who watch porn don't want to be told it's wrong. and also because the media itself is so wrapped up in sex - musicians have to have a sexy image in order for their videos to be aired, commercials have to be sexy to attract the sexual side in all of us...the media doesn't warn because the media is so wrapped up in it. think about it - even commercials for alcohol say 'please drink responsibly', yet go on to have this really sexy commercial for their alcohol and never say 'this commercial's sexual appeal may be addicting'. sex is a tool to rake in other "unmoral" desires like alcohol. also, when cigarettes were first found to be bad, no one really wanted to listen because a lot of people smoked at the time. i think it's the same thing with porn - no one wants to be told that what they're doing is wrong or addicting.

They do. But what can they say. porn is not addictive to everyone. It's addictive to people with addictive personalities. It does get boring after a while to most people. Good for you for recognizing you are addicted.

you are, i believe, the exception, because there is common agreement that after a while, and i can attest to it, porn becomes rather boring...maybe it is just taking a bit longer for porn to become stagnant to you...maybe it never will, in any case, i wish you luck...
