because you like the person but they usually dont like you so you get crushed
or you like the person they like you but it was just a crush and it ends and you get crushed b/c you didn't want it to end! : )

Perhaps because you feel literally crushed when it's over.
really, it has to do with old time social gatherings which were called "crushes". I'll post a link below...

One of the meaning of crush, is to pursue. When you have a crush on someone, you keep pursuing them.
