Y...A...H...O...O

I suppose this crazy place gives me relief from thinking. How ironic is that. Go someplace where people want answers and where you have to write and communicate so that you don't have to "think." But it is so true. Here.......words and thoughts just flow out of me naturally. I feel no pressure to perform, to be anything other than who I am. I can laugh and joke and tease and cry and vent and life still goes on on this even plain without drama or interruption. That is what I love about this site. It's relief from the schedules....from the pressure... from the expectations.... from stress. :)

How about you? How do you spell Relief?

I consider running to be a form of torture. But I love to walk. I started taking walks when I was 15, just after my life went topsy turvy. I was in Florida with friends and took a lot of long walks on the beach... in the morning, during the day, at night. I found that it helped to settle my fears and soothe my heartache. When I got back from the vacation, I longed for that time of solitude. So I took a walk. I honestly don't remember people walking much then (1975) and I got a lot of odd stares (no sidewalks either) and people kept stopping to see if I needed a ride. I started walking at night so people would leave me alone. I'm still taking nightly walks. Every night. Rain, snow, freezing cold (lived in IN for awhile), blazing heat...I do it for my soul. It's 8:30 and I'll be heading out for the evening stroll very soon. I am so blessed to live next to a beautiful park and by walking late I have it all to myself - except for the owls.
That same summer I also began to lie on my back and look at the night sky. Gazing at the heavens has a magical way of shrinking my problems down to size. I still do that from time to time - sometimes just for the sheer joy of it, sometimes when I am in pain.

*My son was a cross country runner. I loved watching him and the other runners - I couldn't even sleep the night before a meet because I was so looking forward to it. Great sport :-)

Online first person shooters are a great release, like my favorite, the Medal of Honor games.

Tai Chi I prefer, cause it balances and keeps the body in line with it-self, and or hiking, or roller blading., or a HOT jacuzzi.
