Well I realy can't say that I know the answer to that yet, but continuous progress is being made to include other countries. The Euro is strong I think. But who knows what the future really holds.

Of the 15 original EU countries, all but UK, Denmark and Sweden have the euro as the official currency. So that's Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Ireland, Finland, Austria, Greece, Italy, Spain, France and Portugal.
Monaco, Andorra, San Marino and Vatican City use the euro, but aren't part of the EU so have no say in the European Central Bank.
Kosovo (not a country yet) uses the euro to avoid using Serbian currency.
The new EU countries are working to harmonize their currencies so they can eventually go to the euro. Those are Poland, Czech, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Malta, Cyprus, Slovak Republic, Slovenia.
The euro works major tourist areas of Turkey and Croatia, as well as in tourist areas of the new EU countries.
Romania and Bulgaria will join the EU soon, but their economies are not close to being ready for the euro. I haven't been to either, but believe you can probably spend euro there.

1) These countries are in the Euro system already
BELGIUM, GERMAN, GREECE, SPAIN, FRANCE,FINLAND IRELAND, ITALY, LUXEMBOURG, The NETHERLANDS. AUSTRIA, PORTUGAL,
2) These states also use the euro
1) Non-EU European governments (Monaco, the Vatican City and San Marino)
2). Countries using Euro as de facto currency, i.e., no official agreement with EU (Andorra, Kosovo, Montenegro)
3)-Countries or terriorties located outside the EU continent. Four French overseas departments (Guadeloupe, French Guyana, Martinique and Réunion),
Mayotte (territorial collectivity of France - North America),
Saint-Pierre and Miquelon (territorial collectivity of France)
Madeira
Canary Islands(belonging to Spain)
http://ec.europa.eu/economy_finance/euro/world/euro_world_main_en.htm
3)These countries are scheduled to join the euro.
2007: SLOVENIA, LITHUANIA
2008: LATVIA, MALTA, ESTONIA,CYPRUS
2009: SLOVAKIA
2010: HUNGARY, CZECH REPUBLIC,
http://ec.europa.eu/economy_finance/euro/transition/preparations.pdf
4) Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Turkey, Macedonia Serbia, that are either in talks about joining the EU or are scheduled to join will probably join euro the future..but it will be a long time off yet.
Bulgaria and Romania are joining the EU next year but yet there are no plans to join the EU.
5)The UK is very UNLIKELY ever to join the euro due to political opposition. Sweeden, Denmark and Poland are unlikely to join the euro for a while at least too. Sweden and Denmark have both had referendums against the euro. And Poland is planning to have one in 2010

I think there will be a huge backlash in Asian societies when gay marriage gets accepted. It won't be an easy process, just like any other new thing in a society. Whenever I talk to friends, they constantly refer it as 'Western lifestyle', which means they aren't that comfortable with gay lifestyle even if they aren't crusading against them like some Muslims and Christians do. But I think most of us just ignore it. We don't want to get into trouble of being called homophobic, so many people have this 'don't ask, don't tell' policy. But of course, that makes us feel like we are being controlled by Westerners who use 'universal human rights' to impose their values on us.
