Albumins (the majority of the proteins in the plasma are albumins) in the urine are a prototypical sign of kidney damage.

Protein in the urine is an indication of kidney disease. Protein present in the blood are large molecules. The filtering unit of the kidney, glomerulus, when healthy, keeps those proteins from entering the urine. When the kidney is diseased, then proteins can leak out. If you know someone with this problem, they need to see a doctor.
