I want to get my lip pierced but my mom says no. Someone give me advice on how to convince her. She says that it's ugly, which i don't agree with, either do any girls I've asked. She also says it's unnecessary, to which i said so is her wearing make up.
So yea, i just need an argument that might make her change her mind. Thanks!

hello

likey hood is you are not gonna change your mother`s mind

in my opinion a lip ring is gross but hey that`s me....

DON`T go about your argument as an attack that will get you nothing...

maybe you should wait till you are older and do not need her permission......

keep in mind a lip ring can be removed a tattoo can`t....

i agree make up is not nessary but your mom obisouly think`s it is
so telling her that it is not probly not gonna get anywhere, she will probly say , we are talking about you not me,...

maybe just let it go for awile come to her whith a propsal in cople of motnh`s..

good luck

Ouch! You come here asking for something which you hope you will get only to find out that you are being outspoken for something you thought was "in". Personally, I don't like the lip piercing unless it's something like a stud. And if it's a stud, it would have to be small. There was a girl in my highschool that got a stud that looked like a huge oversized silver zit. Actually, it looked like a zit that was horribly infected. I never liked it. Like the one guy says, it looks like something that you were trying to eat but it never made it into your mouth. Tongue piercings, on the other hand, are hot and I like 'em. Put it this way. If I see a girl with a pierced tongue, I know she can take some pain because the tongue is one of the most sensitive areas she has (except for what's below the waist) and (except the point where it becomes frozen or numb due to ice or anesthesia).

There isn't much that can convince her to change her mind.

Obviously, you aren't old enough to get it done on your own, so just wait until you are. It's only a couple of years, and by then, if you still want it, you'll know for sure this isn't something you are going to regret the day after you get it done.

In the mean time, talk to her about all the reasons you want it. If it's because of friends, celebrities, or just "the style" then it's a bad decision. Tattoos and piercings should be done for you, and you alone. The longer you wait, the more you will know if this is for you. It will also give her a chance to get used to the idea, and she won't be so upset when you finally are old enough to get it done on your own.

Just to tell you, a lip piercing can also damage your teeth. I don't think your boyfriend would like to kiss you if you have some chipped teeth. It's up to you to get a lip piercing but if you choose to go with it without your mom's permission then be prepared to face major punishments. Do some more research on the Internet under advanced search, like the pros and cons of "lip piercing" to decide whether or not you really want to go with this. Also, how much does it cost and think about why you want to do this. Frankly I don't think it's a good idea but essentially you're the one who is going to make the decision.

Hope you make the right one

Well, I have to say that if you are young enough to have to ask your mom for permison. Maybe a lip ring is not the right thing for you.
This is a decision you may regret when you are older... can you picture a 40 year old going in for a job interveiw with a lip ring?

Someone once gave me advice, "If you decide that you want a peirsing or a tattoo think about it for two years, and if you still want it Go For It!"

Best Of Luck

First of all, I agree with your mom. But Dear Abby did have a recent article that might give you some good ideas: http://www.uexpress.com/dearabby/?uc_full_date=20040321

Good luck!

if you still live with her, you may want to listen to her. but I pierced my tongue my first year of college against my parents' wishes. they hated it until the day I took it out, but we just chose to disagree
