Many things to consider -- time of day, day of week, holidays, etc. The internet is like the mall. A ghost town when kids are in school, people are at work ... busy and slow-going on weekends, holidays, ... Best time to surf is early morning and later at night.

You might also do some housecleaning:

- Are you using a complex screensaver - it runs in the background and eats memory. I had fun with mine, then changed it to blank.
- How many programs do you load at startup? Maybe you should check it out and ensure you are running just what you need.
oTo do this: cl Start, cl Settings, cl Taskbar and Start Menu.
ocl Start Menu, cl Customize, cl Remove.
ocl the icon for the program you wish to remove
othen cl Remove.
oThis will prevent the program from loading at startup, but will not remove the program from the hard disk.

1.From IE, click Tools, Internet Options
-delete cookies
-delete files (offline files)
-clear history (set days to save to 0 if you want)
-click o.k., and Restart
2.click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools – run Disk Cleanup
3.Temporarily close Quick Launch:
Right-click on the Taskbar, click Toolbars, deselect Quick Launch
4.Open My Computer
right-click on C:
click Properties
click Tools, select Error Check (check all and fix), when finished click defrag & run.
5.click Start, Run ipconfig renew (type ipconfig space renew)
6.Restart. Right-click on Taskbar, click Toolbars, select Quick Launch to restore

All these things should be done regularly. The more frequently they are run, the less time they take.
-Note: Games and videos are mostly graphics. Graphics create large files. If all else fails, you might need more memory.

Cleaning your computer.

Clean your Browser Cache:

Tools>Internet Options>General tab>Delete Cookies, Files (check mark the box for OFFline Content in the window that appears) and Clear History buttons.

Go to the Sites button by Temp. Files and change the number to 50.

Check your HD for Defragmenting:

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools> Disk Defragmenter.

Clear Temp. Windows Files:

Exit all running programs, including browser, except your AV and AS programs. Exiting these might be necessary later (not usually).

Start>Run> type "%temp%" (no quotes)>OK>in the menu bar go to "Edit" click Select All>in the expanded menu select Delete or right click on the pane with the files highlighted and select Delete. When finished Close window.

Clear clutter in DSL modem (If used) and RAM:

Turn off the modem, computer and monitor in this order. Wait a minute or two and then restart in reverse order. Turning off he computer clears the RAM of clutter.

If the above didnt work then run you AV and AS programs for possible infections.

NO dont listen to them, the same thing happened to me yesterday, i reckon its to do with the new mail software that they are trying to install... I wrote and told them that they shouldnt try to fix something that isnt broken. It was fine as it was. Everything to do with yahoo was running real slow but its picked up a bit today. All other websites are at normal speed, so the problem isnt to do with your own computer.
