Hi Shazza,

I am a midwife currently working in Ireland. It depends how long ago you had your last period but you could wait for a week or so then try another pregnancy test, they can b quite unreliable in early pregnancy. Unfortunately the brown discharge and late period could be a sign of an early miscarriage. Also, alot of women have an implantation bleed (when the placenta is attatching to the wall of the womb) and this causes no further problems in the pregnancy. If you dont want to wait then you should go to your gp who may send a further pregnancy test or take a blood sample to test for pregnancy hormones.

Hope this helps you, dont hesitate if you have any further questions.

Was the first test positive, and then the following were negative? Or were the first 2 negative and then you got a positive? If the first 2 were negative then you could have been testing too early. Go to your doctors for a blood test to be 100% sure. Good luck!!

I took several tests and got both negatives and positives. What gives? See FAQ 9 above; there are many variables-- concentration of urine, sensitivity of the test. Since true false positives are pretty rare, if you get at least one positive HPT, you are probably pregnant. Wait a couple of days and test again or try another brand if you are suspect. If you suspect you have a true false positive (meaning you did not conceive and still got a positive)

You can't get a false positive unless you had the positive first, the period then the negative. If you had a miscarriage, it would be alot of blood and clotted, it sounds like you are having an implantation bleed. Wait a couple of days and take another test.

Call your doctor, and they may be able to send you for a blood test before they see you. That way you'll get your answer when you go to your appt. False positives and/or false negatives happen alot more often than many people realize. Good luck ! I hope it comes back positive for you :)

See your doctor tomorrow. Put your mind to rest. If you are pregnant the stress could cause you a problem, don't let that happen. Good Luck

was the positive test first? it could be that you were pregnant breifly but if the embryo was not healthy it would have passed. a doctor will check your hormone levels twice. if there is an increase then you are still pregnant. a decrease will mean that you are no longer pregnant.

You may be pregnant, but I have also heard of menopause causing you to have the symptoms of pregnancy when in actuallity it is menopause and no you are not too young, I know a woman that began menopause in her mid 30's. I would go to your doctor to be sure.
