It will be realesed in the Spring of 2007. They are currently working on the new album now with producer Rick Rubin. and for the guy that asked about Jason Newsted, he's been out of the band for almost 5 years !!

Throughout the entire Escape From the Studio '06 tour Metallica has performed the album Master of Puppets in its entirety to celebrate the album's twentieth anniversary of release. During these performances the song Orion was dedicated to Cliff Burton. These concerts are the only times that Burton's Orion has been performed fully. The band has performed abbreviated versions of the song on many occasions, most notably as part of the bass solo during the Nowhere else to Roam world tour from 1991-1993, and in November 2005 during a pair of dates opening for The Rolling Stones.

I hope they dont. Everything up to the Black album was awsome after that they went to sh*t. They had a few good songs but that was it.
