I want some opinions here. We pretty much know what we want to use to accent my daughter's room. I have purchased the material and all for the quilt and pillows that my husband's grandmother is going to make for the baby. I am going to go with Beatrix Potter, but since I just don't like the cream colors in the only crib bedding set out there for this, I decided to decorate her room my own way. The pieces for the quilt are precious, and I am going to try to attach a picture for you to see.

My husbands thinks a pale blue would look great with the quilt. I love the pale blue, but I have never thought of it as a color for a girl's room.

Anybody else ever paint their girl's nursery blue?

What other colors do you think would coordinate with the quilt?

Here is a link to the picture of the fabric being used for the quilt.

HA! Would you believe that with my first daughter, the theme of the nursery was Beatrix Potter stuff, AND we used a lot of BLUE? It's because that's such a nice soft blue in the images.... I also used pale, pale pink and cream.

The pattern you have chosen is beautiful for your daughter's room. I believe also that a pale blue would coordinate perfectly with the quilt. Being that the blue is very light, and not a dark, navy-like shade, I think the choice to paint the room blue is natural. Maybe to make the room a little more feminine after the painting is completed, try finding a border with little pink flowers on it - I see there are some in the quilt - or something simularly girly.

Honestly there are no rules on colors. The whole pink thing is overdone with little girls. I think the blue would be lovely. I took a look at the quilt and think the green color is absolutely my favorite there. Also, if you don't feel so comfortable with the blue, the green is a universal color that can be for anyone. Congratulations!

I don't see why you couldn't do whatever you want to do. Like she's going to know blue is for boys anyhow. :) But if you are concerned there is also pink in the flowers or a nice sage green might be pretty. Perhaps sponging would be a nice idea. I have that same pattern on a quilt for my kids; I have two girls and a boy and all of the kids have gone through that quilt. :)

I looked at the quilt, very nice! It has so many colors in it, you could use any, including pale blue! Yes, I painted my daughter's room pale blue, and I put pink and blue accessories. It was a hit! Go for it, we're way passed stereotypes!

i don't see why you shouldnt go blue for your little girl, if thats what you love then go for it, i don't know why people are stubborn to assume blue is for boys and pink is for girls. Many little girls like the color blue and the trend with guys now is to wear pink shirts. Give your little girl that bit of variety and if when she gets older and doesnt like it then you can change it but its not like you didn't try right? If you feel the blue is too over powering then add some different color accents to it as well. But i think it would go very nice in blue. GOOD LUCK! And CONGRATS with having a baby girl!

I'm doing mine in kinda an assortment of colors. I have tape splitting up the walls in to two sections bottom and top. Where the tape is I'm going to leave white so there is a white stipe going through the middle of the walls. On the bottom I'm doing a darker purple (like the dark purple lilacs) and on the top I'm doing a light lavender color. The ceiling is still going to be white.

I think as long as you leave the fire trucks, and gruffy boy things out it, blue would be lovely.

Blue makes a room look bigger, and it has such a calming effect. I had the Peter Rabbit stuff for my son, and doing everything in pale bland colors would have been really boring. We went with green, but we also were trying to work with existing carpet.

Do it Blue!!!!

My daughter's nursery was blue. Pale blue with white puffy clouds as a boarder around the top. We even had a wall sculpture of a Hot-air Balloon put in to add to the effect. It was beautiful.

I think that would be cute--- I wanted to do Beatrix Potter but hubby didn't. We are going with jungle critters instead. You could get little plaques to put on the wall with Squirrel Nutkin and the bunnies and stuff on them! I wish we had done Beatrix Potter!
