From what I know, there are at least 10 other video posting sites besides Youtube. Yet, Youtube was the one who attracted most attentions from users consistently for the past year or so. Hence, it resulted in $1.6 Billion acquisition by Google.
What sets Youtube apart from other video posting sites? What is so attractive about it?

What is so attractive is the sheer number of users and then on top of that the sheer number of videos available.
I think Google was premature and should worry about copyright attacks in the near future (Google = deep pockets)!
Here are two adult youtube sites that are free and quite good, as further urging for the 10 points best answer hehe

youtube is the best site that all people use.
What sets google apart from all the other search engines. I'll tell you, thats what people started using and it is just a popular choice. Youtube is also a very simple site to use.

timing. they were the first to execute the model successfully and as a result have developed the deepest brand awareness. more and more websites are integrating live video into their websites/ execution strategies which will take some veiwership from YouTube, which Google paid WAY too much for, but thats fine to do when your outstanding equity is on crizzack.

It is a sight that you can view things from New orleans to music videos that you want to see but can't wait all day to see and ones that you know they won' t show again for a long while like AC/DC, Pat Benetar, and cool things for the kids like crazy frog. You can also vote on personal videos and movies. And it is free!!!! Just love it.

uhh, its very userfriendly, u can easily search for the video u want to see and mostly everything is great about the site.. and so, obviously its the one that really stands out among the other video sites..

so much of it is free and it is easy to use. When they let the advertisers pay instead of us paying, we will support their site. When they have too many ads and then want us to pay fees, they can expect us to opt out. Everyone is opting out of yahoo personals because yahoo is the king of ads and wants high fees to use their stuff. We are gone now and yahoo will have to revamp or lose out.

I think it just became popular then everyone wanted their vids on a popular site so it gets noticed.
