i need clay to hold toothpicks up for this roman house im making unfortunatly i have none, somesubstitutes or quick and easy recipes or something would help

You can make an air dry clay using white bread with the crusts cut off and white glue like Elmer's. One teaspoon or so of glue per slice of bread. Pull the bread into small pieces and mix in the glue working it into a dough with your fingers. If the dough is too sticky,add more bread. If too crumbly,add more glue. The consistency should be like dough but not sticky. You can add food coloring as you mix it to make different colors. It will take about a day to dry on the outside and a couple more to dry completely but will hold up the toothpicks fine even while wet.

do you have a chunk of styrofoam? Maybe from a box something you bought came in. It can be painted.

you could use string, gum or play dough if you have no play dough look how to make some online.
