I was going to college for administrative services and decided to change my career...here is why....I live in a smaller city and was told by several people that had been in my spot that if I didnt want to basicly be higher paid secretary to change my career goals. This was for a administrator, so I can only imagine what an assistant has to do. I would say you probably will be answering the phone, making copies, etc. Dont quote me but that is my guess. The thing with business settings is you have to prove yourself over and ever again before you get a real position. I was a legal secretary before I decided to go back to school im thinking now that maybe I should have just kept the job I had. If you like sitting at a desk and thinking alot then you would probably like the job.......good luck though

An administrative is a title for a secretary, you would assist all office staff or just the director. This depends on the company. The duties could range from acting as the receptionists and all other office duties to assistant in particular duties to various amount of duties. The would really depend on the company. But it is really just anther word for secretary. Not a bad job, i was a secretary for many years before going back to college and earning degrees in Social work. And actually, went back to Administrative Assistant work it pays more and less stressful. Good luck and God bless

If you have no prior experience in the field you are going to be hired for and you want to learn more you should go for it because addministrativ assistant kind of takes care of everything and has to know/learn a lot of stuff. Llike said in one of the previous posts it's another word for secretary.

She is an assistant to her boss. Whatever she/he needs done to make the job easier. Typing, Filing, running errands, internet research. You should be able to continue his job if he takes vacation for a week, and he would not come back to a mess.

It's another way of saying "secretary" and one thing that he/she needs to know is how to spell. For example, does...not dose.
