If you are a parent of a teenager and let them roam the streets until 11pm and later, drinking alcohol and smoking. you are a BAD parent. My question is why don,t you tell them they have to be in at a reasonable hour,and why are you a bad parent?

they want their kids to think of the parents as "cool."
I don't understand how a parent could let their kids do whatever they wanted.
i'm sure some of them reading the question have no clue. they are too stubburn to admit they are dumb parents.

Why.
Children need an education to set them up for the challenges of life.
Lots of Teenagers will spend their lives involved in petty crime and street crime, drunkenness and smoking related early deaths from cancer, so the parents are only being responsible when they encourage their kids to experience drunkenness and do unemployment experience in the way schools do Work experience.
If your kid is headed for the scrap heap it is unfair to refuse to accept this and try to force them to become quasi respectable middle class citizens which will cause serious psycological problems in later life.

I think the parents are drinking and smoking at home and generally do not give a damn what their kids are up to. People like that should not be allowed to have children if they cannot bring them up properly

Who are you to judge people? there comes a time when teenagers want to get out of the house, try different things and find out who they are. Most parents don't realise that their kids are experimenting with cigarettes and alcohol. You can't wrap your kids in cotton wool forever because if you do they will hate you for it and do outrageous things three fold.

look times are changing & our kids, they think that they can do what they want nowadays, times r changing let them figure things out for themselves keep them sufficated they will get worse trust me!
