Whites would you prefer Caucasians or White? Doesn't matter to me.
Chinese, Japanese, etc, would you prefer Asian instead? I doubt it, because there's been bloodshed and offenses by some parties to the others.
Why are SOME people offended by being called Black, White, Mexican or Chinese? Because not even 100 years ago, these terms were meant to offend these races.

I'm black and prefer to be called exactly what I am, which is Black America, NOT African American. How can I be African American if I don't know anything about Africa, never been there, have no ties to it, don't even know the language, and my parents or grand parents aren't from there???
You might as well call me Native American and European American too since I have a spec of blood from both of those. I'm Black American because my blood is mostly from African slaves, but mixed with slightly few other things like most blacks. African slaves are those who's culture was torn from them, leaving their entire culture with no sense of culture, family, lagnuage, way of life, etc. Most of those people knew nothing about their African heritage after everything got ripped form them, so therefore my family line doesn't know, and I don't either. All I know is America, and that I'm treated like a "Black" person because I'm black. Which means discrimination from everyone including many black people.
So...I'm Black American. And I personally don't feel like I belong anywhere. I'm just me.

I kind of like the idea, that we don't need this race bit. I go by how people treat me, not their ancestry. They respect me, then I respect them. The newspapers in this country need to stop putting labels on people in their news. A thief is a thief, no matter what and there is no need to add his race to the news.
