Highlight whatever you want to copy by holding down the mouse button and dragging over the part you want to copy. Then you can go ahead and right click the highlighted area and copy. Go to where you want to paste it and click, then right click and paste. If you don't use a mouse there are keyboard shortcuts you can use or go to the Edit menu.

Highlight what you want, right click and hit cut, go to where you want to put the text, right click, hit paste.. Or grab some scissors, cut the paper up, paste it to where you want to put it. Not sure which kind of cutting and pasting you were going for.

Hold down left mouse key and slide it across the word/objects you want to cut (it will highlight them at that time). Let go when finished then right click or edi (up top) and select cut. The object you selected with have the "dancing ants" around it. Then go to the area you want it and hit right click or edit and select "paste.

Highlight area to be copied then do a < control key > c (cutting)
Go to where you want to copy with your cursor , like a word document then do a < control key > v (paste)

This may vary a bit between OS but it works on a Mac.
