How can you recognize something that is not true? The president does NOT need to be above the law to fight terror. The so called "war on terror" which is a name for nothing doesn't need to revolve around the president. But then again, the war on terror, as I just said is really a non existant thing so I guess it is more accurate to say the idea of the war on terror doesn't need to revolve around the president, or better yet, needs to be forgoten. What terrorists, the "ones out there?!" ha!

Oddly enough we managed to fight many wars without the need to torture or suspend habeus corpus. Its not like they can't listen in, they can and do, for all but I think it was 17-23 cases. They could even ask for a retroactive warrant up to four days after they did it. So that takes care of the "having to wait" argument.
Torture has been proven to be of little value since most will say anything to make it stop. And the Magna Carta has been viable for several centuries without the world coming to an end.
Maybe we refuse to recognize it because it isn't necessary. Maybe he could try having competent people around him and then paying attention to what they say instead of dismissing them if he doesn't agree with what they have to say.
If hes above the law today, what will he be tomorrow? Can he make up his own law? Would you grant that ability to oh, say, Hillary Clinton should she be our next president?

Most refuse to recognize that "the president needs to be above the law ..." because the United States Constitution recognizes separation of powers and we, in the U.S., tend to accept the rule of law. Our Revolutionary War was, in some measure, fought because of some in England who felt that they were above the law.

Bush and his friends believe that America is always right. It is that simple. It does not matter how many Iraqi's die or how many terrible deaths we cause, in the Middle East, the idea is that we need to win at any cost! Winning is everything to the Republicans.
Of course, What the Republicans seem to have forgotten is winning at any cost is a trap, because you can not win all the Wars.
We can clearly see that Korea and Iran are feeding off each other at this time.
What the Republicans fail to see is that sometimes it is better to fight another day than fight today and lose. The art of Statesmanship is a different thing than the dangerous game of brinkmanship!
We need some real artistry at this time to get us out of the mess we are in thanks to the stubbornness of Bush.

Only G W Bush wants to be above the law. But after he loses the house & senate in Nov. he will be below the law & OUR Congressman from Detroit John Conyers will see to it that impeachment charges are brought up. Furthermore Bush wants nothing better than to have us peons eliminated so he can have his police state as he is trying to do now. Nov. '08 can't come soon enough for those of us that are still alive after what this regime has done to OUR once great country.

We have to be better than the terrorists who want to take away our freedom. We need to be able to say, "No, we won't stand for this." Nobody is above the law, not even the President.

Greetings!
You listened one to many minutes of Rush. If you fool the president was above the law, what would make him different from the terrorists we are so called fighting. I say so called because the more we learn, we must wonder.
If this President was so committed to fighting terrorism, why weren't his daughters in Iraq?
Good Luck
Start thinking for yourself,cmon!

No one should be above the law on anything, why have laws then. Using terrorism to do whatever he wants isnt helping anyone. There needs to be checks and balances.
