The High School in my town allows you to have phones on during class. If the call is important enough, you can go into the hall and answer it.

No, nothing would get done because people would never get off of their cell phones. There is still a lot of cell phone use that goes on in schools even where they are banned.

Absolutely not, phones are used to cheat, and they are at school to learn not be spoiled. I don't even think a kid should have a cell phone if they aren't paying the bill.

Are you serious? This should be common sense not to mention common courtesy. Do you want to listen to the conversations of loud teenagers when you are trying to learn something? I don't want to hear their conversations anytime, let alone when I'm trying to talk or listen to people who are right in front of me. They should be aloud to be at school, but not to be used during class ever!!!! I also think they should be banned from being used inside of businesses unless they are being used appropriately.

One argument in prefer of permitting cellular telephones: they are able for use to call for help in case of school violence (e.g. a school capturing). that's effortless to counter the argument that cellular telephones could desire to be allowed so as that the student may be notified of an emergency -- an effortless counter argument to that's that the mothers and dads or guardians of the youngster can, and positively could desire to, touch the imperative's place of work immediately and allow the imperative or instructor notify the student for my area. whether, i don't think of there is such an effortless selection whilst it includes permitting cellular telephones so as that students can use them for outgoing calls, to checklist emergencies. If reminiscence serves, scholars at Columbine used cellular telephones in in basic terms this form. (With the present VTech capturing the only cellular telephone use I heard of became the video photos a student took together with his cellular telephone digital camera -- on an identical time as the displaying of that on the internet, etc. is...tasteless...there is likewise a controversy to be made, or lesson to be discovered, that such video photos *can* have an evidentiary function.)

No. Students shouldn't be talking on the phone during class unless it is an absolute emergency. I occasionally text message during class when I'm bored...but it is somewhat disrespectful to the teacher and distracts other people...but man...some classes can be SO BORING!

No, it's disruptive to the learning environment. I'm in college and I even shut my cell off when I go in to class....(or I at least turn the ringer off if I want to be able to see the calls I missed).
