I hear what your saying BUT, there are alot of RICH people in NYC who don't wanna give up an Ounce of Freedom. Now can you Imagine the OUTRAGE there would have been had that plane been flown by a Terrorist and that plane was filled with Explosives and instead of that apartment building it had crashed into say Rockefeller Center or the Empire State Building. America will NEVER have Complete security because of the fact that we are a FREE country.

The airspace around NYC has its own control structure. Planes can fly along the east river and the hudson river below 1100 feet and under Visual Flight Rules.

It was not a terrorist threat or uncontrolled, out of communication flight. They had some sort of mechanical failure or possibly pilot error. I don't think it was even tracked on radar (could be wrong on that one).

They had just taken off-- They wouldn't scramble fighters for this sort of thing.

What the plane did was perfectly legal, up until it crossed the Brooklyn Bridge, when it entered LaGuardia's airspace and needed an ATC clearance to proceed. It did not request such a clearance; we do not know why. From the time it entered LGA airspace until it crashed was only a few minutes.

The plane was in a regular flight corridor. It was not missing until it hit the building.Do you think there are F-16s flying around New York? What would they do anyway shoot it down and make sure it crashes into the city?

It wasn't supposed to, it took a steep turn and lost control from what they are saying now. What bothers me is that it took almost 15 minutes for NORAD to scramble.
Nearest I can figure is that Homeland Security went to Indiana and was protecting that petting zoo that got all that money.

the city has no longer something to do with it. Airplanes are under the jurisdiction of the FAA, no longer of the city of manhattan or Chicago, and if I have been to fly my Cessna through downtown Chicago, as long as I accompanied the FAA regulations (there are some), the city of Chicago ought to no longer touch me. The plane in touch in on the instant's incident become no longer being flown in accordance with FAA regulations -- it become too low. possibly it become attempting to ward off an overcast, yet under the circumstances it is going to have been on an IFR flight plan, and severe sufficient to ward off obstructions.

Simply; George Bush Sr. and George Bush Jr. (Pres.) were on their way to see Michael Moore for his new movie NEW YORK CITY WAS MADE BY THE BUSHES FOR 912. If you believe this, I'll meet you for coffee at the Hard Rock Cafe in NY city where Elvis and John Kennedy Jr. will be serving tonight !!!

Another possible conspiracy? I doubt it. It was a major mistake or accident on someones part. Maybe mechanical failure? And NORAD did scramble some planes. Sad and very frightening, of course.

Rich people own private planes. They also own yachts which could sink an aircraft carrier anytime.

Don't mess with rich boy's toys.

What security measure do you propose for private single engine aircraft?

I see it as unlikely to be prevented.
