I have seen it & lived it! Emotions get away from you during a divorce or break-up. I actually was the only person laughing in the movie theatre (much to the audiences dismay!). My divorce was final in March of 1990 & it took 5 long years in court until I gave into the Lawyers demands & signed away my life just to be free. I moved to the other end of the state just to get away from the pain it caused me. It is all just a blur in my life that seems a bit unreal, just like the movie did to some people! Advice is to settle quick & clean. Pre-nups renewed yearly would help.

Couples that are truly committed don't "fight" very often. They bicker and argue, but they don't fight.

Fighting usually arises out of a lack of control and/or a need for control... control of a situation ("Take out the trash!"), a person ("Just do what I said!"), or environment ("Get out of my way/room!"). And that need for control comes from one emotion: fear. Fear of losing control is what drive couples to fight... and divorce.

Committed couples need to take more time to LISTEN, and not talk. If each party listened more and spoke less, fights would be much less commonplace.

Okay, you have GOT to see Mr and Mrs. Smith.
The pretense is very similar!

Seriously, one should not react.
They should calmly discuss without attacking the other person.
