It depends on how the guy behave towards you. Look for signs in that behavior which may note an infatuation for you.
It sounds like he is acting differently towards you because of shyness. He acts normal around his friends because he is more comfortable with them. When he is around you, he doesn't want to do anything to embarrass himself. Try talking to him and see what you can learn from the conversations.
