NO ONES vacuum should shock them!! You have a bad ground either in the vacuum or the outlets!! You should get this checked before you get the BIG zap!! Even static electricity should be conducted through the ground wire so you should not even experience that!! get it checked!!

Friction from the carpet or some other surface. It builds up on the vacuum and discharges through you because you are earthed! Try wearing one of those ant-static bands that PC repairers wear and attach it to the body of the vacuum from your wrist.

yes mine does too
it is the man made fibers in the carpet being rubbed by the vacuum that causes it
when you start to place your hand on the metal part of the hose and dont take it off till you have finished helps

It could be plain old static electricity or you might have a short in the wiring. Also, if your floor is wet or damp.

.......ur vaccuum sucking not as in sucking dirt but just sucking lol j/k....buy a new one or wear rubber gloves...OHH and it could be due to the static from ur socks if u wear them while u use it.

To be on the safe side if i were you i'd get that checked for an electrical fault, don't dice with death, wire could be loose.

happens more with synthetic carpets than natural fabric carpets.
sometimes if you sprinkle baking soda lightly over the carpet it will help.

sounds like you have a cord issue.. either toss it or have the cord repaired or replaced...
