Just wondering. When and how long did you play it? Bb horn, F horn or double? Did you enjoy it? What other instruments did you play?

I played the french horn when I was 16-18 for my church orchestra...I was so terrible that I faked it the whole time & when I finally did have a recital I ran down the aisle in the middle of the piece I was playing - I couldn't even stand to angonize myself, let alone the attendees...
it's a beautiful instrument though - when it's played correctly!!

I played in 6th grade with 2 other girls and 4 other guys. I played the flute in 5th and the first quarter of 6th, then switched. I played a Bb horn and got really good and our band went to this festival thing and there were 7 french horns and two little sightreading booklets, so that messed things up a bit, but we ended up getting higher scores than all the highschools. i played until the end of 6th grade and now im back to flute, because i HATED the french horn even though i was good at it.

This one time at band camp.....

lol. Anywho, back in the day I played trumpet (wasn't that long ago). The whole band would always get annoyed with all the 'french horners' coz they played real shitty. I'm talking, they sucked rank ***. So my advice would be don't play it! lol. The french horn is a beautiful instrument when its played right, but otherwise I can't stand it.

you does now not be waiting to play French Horn factors on an English Horn. optimistic, they are indoors an same key and you'd be waiting to play diverse it, yet as quickly as you look at the factors, you will come across that the French Horn factors flow some distance under the English Horn is able to taking part in. The French Horn can flow precise under the treble group and commonly will in quintets. you're able to probable come across the French Horn factors to be quite uncomfortable to play on an English Horn, because of the reality the technique could be actual undesirable (quite some low notes). in simple terms top suggestion: transpose it into C (probable going to stay with the bass clef) and are available upon a trombone or baritone participant. in simple terms top case concern: save finding for a French Horn participant who can play the area.
