Because if you don't have wide hips, it will put alot more pressure on your birth canal and that area when the baby comes out, and there's not as much natural structural support.

I say which doctors. When I was 19yr I was a size 2 and when I delivered my son he was 8lbs and I was a size 3 when I had my daughter she was 10lbs and I was a size 5 when I had my son 7lbs and then I was a size 6 when I had my other son 6lbs, so being a size 6 doesnt mean anything you might have narrow hips but you can still have kids.

I would think that if your BMI is high enough to still have periods normally then your cool to have babies... i dont know who told you that i have a TON of friends that have had kids that are smaller... one was a size 2 when she got preggo and the other one was a size 0 and only weighed 95 lbs!! Both the babies were perfectly healthy.... if you eat right and what not you should be completely fine... if nothing else take prenatials... those boost your health like crazy!!!

This makes no sense. I am a size 0 or 1 and I had a child 2 1/2 years ago. That is total nonsense. Switch doctors.

at 19 I weighed 89 lbs and wore size 1 and 3 height of 5'2" waist of 22 inches-BEFORE pregnancy
and I had a 7 lb 11 oz baby that was and is just fine
i did not return to my pre pregnancy weight/measurements, but at least the added inches went where any woman would want them.

your doc may have meant that you have narrow hips which can make it harder to deliver babies. But I have a friend who is a siz1 1 and her first baby was a 10 lber, she delivered vaginally. I am not sure what your doc means.

You didn't ask the doctor to explain himself? If your hips are too narrow, then that can cause problems. If you are too underweight for your height, then ditto.
