asking someone can be pretty difficult - try eye contact. If there is someone youre into or suspect, make eye contact and observe body language. Then, see if you catch them staring afterwards - that might be much easier than asking right away. Eyes will tell you a lot my dear!

(I am sorry if i say something wrong for grammar)
hi. I m lesbian and i think when you met a girl you like you will try to know " She is lesbian or not?" first thing you can do is smile to her and then keep looking at her eyes.if she just look at you and smile ( i mean just smale like say hi that mean she is not lesbian or she dosent interesthing with you,but if she look at you and her eyes narrowed slightly corners of the mouth down, that mean she answer you ( i mean she could be lesbian or she like you) but sometime you need to careful about bi girls
however i hope you will happy with your love,Kanesha

OK, so a couple of weeks ago someone asked how non-butch lesbians identify each other, and this was my answer. Hope it helps!
Here are a few ways:
See them at a lesbian dance or bar or party. (GAY ones don't count - lots of STR8 girls go there to have fun without fending off the meat market! LOL)
Learn to recognize lesbian jewelry (rainbows, triangles, interlocking venus symbols, labyris-shaped earrings or necklaces, stuff from www.loveandpride.ca) If she's wearing any of them, chances are.....
She's wearing Doc Marten boots with her Laura Ashley dress (ok, maybe more of a 90s thing!) LOL - chances are .....
Her friends - if she has a lot of dykey friends, chances are....
Her music interests. If ALL she listens to is Indigo Girls, Ani diFranco, and other lesbian troubadors, chances are....
Her level of familiarity with the tv show The L-Word. If she can detail every episode, name every actress, or OWNS a season on DVD, chances are.....
Her theoretical gender analysis. If she's and ardent feminist AND doesn't date guys, chances are.....
Her spelling. If she uses boi, womyn or wimmin, and other gender re-spellings, she might just be a feminist, but chances are.....
If she's 29 and she wears a Rainbow Brite t-shirt, chances are....
If she's 29 and wears a shirt that says "2QT2BSTR8", or "Dip Me in Honey.....", or "People say we're too pretty to be lesbians", or make references to their proficiency with power tools, chances are..... LOL
If she's a regular attender a the Michigan Womyn's Festival, she may be a straight feminist, but chances are....
If she has a subscription to Curve, Diva, Girlfriends, or the Advocate, chances are.....
(If she has a subscription to On Our Backs, or Lesbian Connection....she IS, with about 99% certainty!)
If she's a subscriber to The Pink Sofa, she better be!
If she speaks knowledgeably about the minutiae of lesbian subculture, chances are....
Getting the picture? ;o)

If your just talking about any random person, you'll have to use your gaydar. For a specific person, a little flirting and conversation will tell the tale.

i wouldn't ask, but that's just me. there's not way to just tell, because it's not about appearance. some girls that look butchy are actually straight, so...
well you can go to all the gay bars. or just chill out untill you make enough friends and find the scoop on everyone, and you'll eventually meet some people that are gay.

The best way is to ask. Or, if you're talking to a girl and she hits on you, you might assume that she is a lesbian. The vegetarian and short hair stereotype is just that- a stereotype. I'm a vegetarian and have short hair, but I'm heterosexual.

well, i'm extreamly out-everyone knows i'm gay. A lot of girls come to me, with questions or come out to me. I'm just "comfortable" to be around-my ex's always say that-i'm ok with who i am, and i dont just say-hey i'm gay, ur gay-let's do it! BIG turn off to many who r looking for a serious realationship...if ur looking for sex-there's alot of "curious" girls out there.
