Where a pair of jeans that flatter your backside. A pair of open toed shoes with a heel, a great belt with a fashionable shirt and possibly a short sweater or jacket over it. Accessorize with bold necklaces and bracelets.

if this is your first dance, im assuming its middle school. nice jeans and cute shirt will do. dont get to freiked out. dresses are tooo fancy for a middle school dance unless its like...the end of the year one.

it really depends on what grade you're in. if you're in middle school wear something similar to what you'd wear to school but a bit more dressed up. if your in high school go crazy haha wear a denim mini with what you said you have w/ some flats and that'll look fine.

it depends what kind of dance it is. if it is just a regular school dance. i would suggest wearing what your planning on wearing. but for a prom or something. its called dressing up
