Americans are the most ignorant people on earth.... For me is worse when they call me "Hispanic". I'm from Brazil and we're Latin, since we do not speak Spanish. So.... get used to the Americans lack of respect for other cultures.

Because American school systems don't teach about Hispanics much at all. It only teaches about European history and their struggles with a few very tiny knowledge on Natives, Hispanics, Asians, and Black American's.

I didn't know anything about Hispanics until I moved to TX and spoke to a few and learned from the source. American schools/society keep people ignorant.

♥ Karen ♥ - I just wanted to point out that even many Latin Americans call themselves hispanic. I learned to call them Hispanic from them, not from Americans. Latin, Latino, Hispanic, etc, their are many terms that are used to discribe the whole culture of Spanish decendant people. Some like being called one thing, while others don't. It's the same as some blacks like myself like being called black american, not African American since I know nothing about African culture. But some love being called that.

In fact I learned a few years ago that some don't like it when you mention their native American side in their blood because they feel thats degrading for some reason, even though some hispanics are half Spanish, and half Mayan.

Because the world stops at their borders. Nothing else matters, unless they have something American corporations can profit from.
