Only take the dosage of Zoloft or any other anti-depressant as your doctor prescribed. If it isn't enough, please consult doctor. Also please do not drink alcohol while taking zoloft or any other anti-depressant, or any other prescribed medication. I always ask the pharmacist if it is ok, even if I am taking some medication off the shelf from the drug store, because that could cause problems as well with this type of medication. Did you hear about the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son? He was only 20, he came to see his mother in Nassau, Bahamas, because that is where her family lives, and she gave birth to a baby girl, so her son came to see his half sister, and mother in their hospital room and then died in the hospital room. Upon doing the autopsy, it was discovered that the 20 year old son was taking 3 prescribed medications, 1 or 2 of them being anti depressants, and that he even took the correct amount for each drug prescribed, except, he got drunk on the airplane getting to Nassau, so all these things lead to his death. Maybe he shouldn't have been taking 3 different medications together like that, or it was the effect of the alcohol that he drank on the airplane while he was travelling to Nassau to see his mother and newborn half sister. Always ask your doctor and pharmacist if any drugs you want to take like for example, cough syrup, that is a no no, with anti depressants. You only live once. mermaid199

If you are a teen, then suicide is a risk. Otherwise there are some sexual side effects and possible weight gain. Look into some other medications such as Celexa or Lexipro. These are the new "clean" SSRI's.

Antidepressants are full of risks the pharmaceutical companies don't want us to know about.
