If you mean carpenters by trade no.
If you ment Carpenters as in Surname yes they were carpenters.
It's a shame Karen never beat her annarexia she was the best singer I feel to ever come along she had a great voice that sounded so smooth and she could sing high and low.
My fav carpenters songs It's Going To take Some Time,
Jambalaya (On the Bayou) and Top of the World.
I got into the carpenters when 8years old found my dad's old albums of them and listened to them in his car got hooked and liked them so much my dad gave me their albums and last year I got the album Carpenters Gold, one of my fav groups of all times.

Yah....they probably weren't too adept at wielding a carpenter's tool,so they decided to make a living out of singing about something else.
I imagine the that the Village People also came together after various failed careers!

no, Richard and Karen's last name was Carpenter. they were a brother and sister team.

back in the day, before Karen went nuts---she was a fox. i mean, this girl was knock-out good looking. not in a slutty madonna way, but in a wholesome girl next door way.

but then she started suffering from anorexia nervosa and starved herself to death. in some of the pictures of her close to the end she looked like she'd been interred at some Nazi death camp. her face was just like a skull with paper thin skin stretched over it---it was really sad to see her look that way when she'd been so pretty before.

she had a voice that would not quit.

I'm pretty sure they weren't - I once turned around in Richard Carpenter's driveway, and his house wasn't much to look at.

maybe every band name should just be the first names of the artists, to avoid confusion (How do they sing if their heads are RADIOS? Let's not even START about the Flaming Lips). Yeah. Then I won't get confused anymore. Excuse me now. I'm going to listen to some John Paul George and Ringo.

Yes it is sadly true.
And the Jackson's dad wasn't Jack!
Joan Armatrading never sold any chainmail shirts, Mythril silver or otherwise,,,
Bryan Ferry Never took cars from Plymouth to Santander, neither..

However, the Doobie Brothers... now that's another story!

Karen Carpenter was not, to my knowledge, a carpenter. She was skinny as a board though (sorry).

That was their last name, silly goose. No, they were not the "hammer and nails type of" carpenters.
