I have to come up with an experiment by tomorrow. I've thought long and hard and can't seem to come up with anything. I need something to which i can conduct in a class room setting with only 13 subjects.I thought about trying to see whether males are more likely to read signs in a room compared to female. or vice versa. So yeah... any suggestion would do.

Is this a formal experiment or is it just for demonstration? If it's the latter, write a paragraph describing a manager with basically neutral behaviors (drinking coffee, talking to employees, going home at 5 o'clock sharp, etc.) or some good or somewhat bad behaviors. Make two identical copies, but make one paragraph be about a male manager ("John is...") and one about a female manager ("Joan is..."). Randomly assign students either the male of female paragraph, distribute separate copies, ask them to read silently, then ask them to rate the person according effectiveness as a manager on a rating sheet (don't tell the participants about the sex factor though). Get the average rating for each sex. It's expected that male managers are favored. I forgot the journal sources for this, and the theoretical framework though. Haha.

You may also want to try listing down a set of words on the board. Then, on separate pieces of paper, tell them
to pay attention to the words and, according to treatment conditions,
a) look at the shape of the letters on each word, or
b) think of other words that rhymes with the given words, or
c) make up a personal story that relates each word to the next
one.
Randomly assign participants to be given one of these sets of instructions on separate pieces of paper. Then, after a set period of time, on the piece of paper, tell them to put in as many words as they can recall on the list. It's expected that the condition that allows the words to be more deeply processed (treatment c) yields highest recall (number of accurate responses). I forgot journal source for this also, though. Long time ago this was done in class.

Just search for the sources if you need them on the internet. Hope this helps. :-)

There is a classic experiment on eyewitness recall that is easy to replicate. Show a video of a car crash. Have a written question on a piece of paper that says, " How fast were the cars going when they __________ each other." Vary the word you put in the blank across the papers. Use the words "contacted," "collided," "hit" and "smashed." The outcome should be that as the intensity of the verb increases, the average of the estimates of speed should also.

this maybe a repeat of childhood crap but still makes sense. Use a small two sentence paragraph about a fictitious person and have it spread thru the room person by person. Just up and down the rows and be surprised at the ending. Than you can make conclusions of why it changed so much. It is fun and always intriguing.

Hi -- this can be a tough assignment, because if the experiment you choose is considered "lame" by your peers, they are less likely to give you their honest effort. So, I did a little research, and found the link listed below. As I don't know your class, I figured you're the best to choose what would work for you. They have tons of choices. I wish you well!
