This is too funny- but I'm helping out a friend at work- he's at his wit's end...
His wife just left him a message at work telling him that her sister dropped by and said that "with your new haircut you look just like mom". He's mentioned to me that he's thought for a while that she looked like her mom- but he couldn't find a polite way to tell her. Now he's dreading the inevitable question when he gets home- "Do I look like my mom?"

What can he tell her that won't send her into hysterics? (She might be pregnant with their 3rd child).

I'm at a loss of words on this one....

Point out that they are related and have some features in common - all the good ones. . .

I'm confused. Is telling her that she looks like her mom a bad thing? Tell her not to focus herself over whether she looks like someone else when she is already an original and beautiful as ever. Maybe that will make her feel better hopefully. Good luck.

"Oh, there might be some family resemblance, but I look at you with different eyes.
When I look at you I see all the memories we've shared, all the joys you've given me. I see all the times you've been there for me, and I for you.
My image of you is more than just a face, or a body. It's colored by what I feel for you; what I know you feel for me.
I see none of that when I look at her. When I look at you, I see the woman I fell in love with. When I look at her, I see the woman I had to accept to be with you. To me, you don't "look" the same. There's not even a comparison."

That should do the trick.

Well he wants to tell his wife the truth. He could start by saying she is beautiful and that she has some characteristics like her mother. That is where she came from she should not be ashamed of that. My ex husband (not a very goodlooking man) I have a child by him who looks like me and his father. My son looks like his father alot but in a way cuter version.

He could say something kind like, "That haircut brings out your beautiful eyes, just like your mom's." She's pregnant! He has to be extremely kind!

I don't get it... Is it all of a sudden a BAD thing to resemble your mother? I look like my mom, and I'm proud of it. She should count her blessings, some girls end up looking like their dads... Now, THAT would be bad!! LOL

He should either say - you are much prettier than your mom, or you resemble the prettiest aspects of your mom, or ,you are a prettier version of your mom.
