What's the formula for Lithium oxide? I know for Lit. it's +1 & oxide is -2..So do I just cross it & my final answer will be Li2O1? Please someone write ASAP!!!

Ok,thanks for your answers. So you're saying that for each forumla, all I have to do is cross multiply the #s & that'll be my answer? For example,Magnesium oxide will be MG2O2 soooooo it'll equal to MGO & if it's CA-2P-3, I'd get CA3P2 right???

Yes, you are right. the formula will Li2O. Since the oxidation state of Oxygen is -2 and oxidation state of Li is +1, cross multiplying the oxidation states will give Li2O
