After all of my years of dealing with the public I would say I am better than average.
I am well spoken, polite and able to spell.

Nobody is better than anyone else. Unless of course they gave up the right to be decent.
Like folk who commit serious crime. I am better then them. I am not as good as Bill Gates as he gives millions to charity and employs millions of staff.
I am not as good as songwriters that write lovely songs that having meaning and help people through difficult times.
I am the average person. so my real answer is No.

No ! But the longer you live the more experiences in life you will/ have had. This gives some what of an advantage over younger people..SOMETIMES.
