Hard to say, it depends on who records your song... If you are serious about writing, look into Publishing Company setup - you keep more of the pie that way.

I do remember reading somewhere that out of the $14 price of a CD, the Artist only gets about $2. So the writer's part would probably only be $0.50 or something if it is a hit song. But of the other $12, the publisher gets some more $... like I said, it pays to be your own publisher.

every interview i've ever heard they say not much compared to the work u put into until someone big comes along and records one of ur songs. if u r that good send them off to the people u want to record them and see what happens. sitting on them certainly isn't going to make u any money.

that depends how good you are. will someone good/famous/rich sign you? that is the question you should ask yourself if you want to get anywhere.
