Which charger to go with for powering an electromagnet of 208-230V and 50/60Hz ? What about 5 in a series? Does it matter?

It matters. The jump start position is a little lower voltage and a lot more current, but it's only made to deliver that current for about 5 seconds. Whatever power supply you use, make sure you know it's 100% duty cycle rating.
If you have an electro magnet marked 208/230V, that's an ac rating anyway. Putting DC to it might have unfortunate results. A coil made for AC will probably draw a lot more current with DC.
Best not to mess around with voltages and exploding magnets than can kill you if you had to ask this question in the first place.

You need to put that thing away. You're going to hurt yourself. Seriously.

The output of the battery charger is about 12 volts DC, that's direct current.

Your electromagnet appears to be AC - 208-230 volts. This is DEADLY current. It will kill you if you don;t know what you're doing.

A "totally charged" battery can nevertheless be a ineffective battery believe it or not. A battery could teach finished fee, yet once you swap the considerable and start to entice cutting-edge from the battery, the battery terminal voltage could drop to easily approximately not something. A battery is conceptually a circuit with a gadget to create a voltage, and an inner resistor that will improve in fee because of the fact the battery a while. If the indoors resistance of the battery is severe, it quite is going to look to be totally charged if no cutting-edge is drawn (like utilising a volt meter on it) yet once you draw cutting-edge from it, all of the voltage drops around the indoors resistance, and little or no is seen on the terminals. A battery that rates very in the present day's an illustration of a ineffective battery. What that shows is that the indoors voltage of the battery is high-quality, even though it tells you not something with regard to the indoors resistance interior the battery. to attempt the battery, positioned a volt meter on the battery, then attempt to start up the automobile. If the voltmeter drops very low, you're seeing what happens to a battery over the years. although, if the battery voltage maintains to be severe, the resistance may be on the terminals themselves, being grimy. if that's the case, clean the battery terminals and positioned them lower back on the battery. yet attempting out a battery with a charger isn't probable a attempt.
