Actually, the blue moon is a perfect reminder to me of how truly virtual our "Real" lives can be. How we observe a phenomenon and transform it into something altogether different and unreal, conforming our constant inner needs for emotional security, mythological meaning and transcendence. Obviously, there is nothing anomalous or even blue about the moon itself, but the Earth's dynamic meteorological conditions through the filter of which we observe the moon's light reaching us. And even so, why should any vibrational state/frequency of light, say color blue, be more meaningful than say orange, or green, or what have you? Is it the relative rarity of the event that begets and encourages our imagination to assign a higher degree of significance to the phenomenon? Or is it our ever-inquisitive and grasping desire for knowledge and transcendence that begs to bring it more Meaning? ... Some people play the blues during the blue moon, others associate it with supernatural events, others explain it away as a mere atmospheric event, some may go fishing, some may stand in awe of its majestic beauty for hours, others fear it as causing birthmarks, some may see the man in the moon, some use it to find their way home, some may see it as an invitation to romance, still others totally ignore it, and so on. So what IS blue moon, if not a manifold virtual state to both anchored and shifting minds?

Living in what is considered a High Desert area, I feel grateful that we have enough moisture in the air to cause this look.
