Unrequited love and living in the closet. Not to mention I was the geekiest chick in a huge school. Ah, those days of being a social pariah. It was a hoot and a half.

Ahhhh ..... good times with me and my pet dinosaur! :-)
But, hey, to give you a serious answer ...
I was a teenager in the 70s. I think one of the major ways in which it was different for me then than it is for teens (or other kids) now, is that I had 100% unstructured free time. No soccer games, play dates, overly involved parents ("helicopter parents" or "hover parents" as they are called now). I was out roaming my neighborhood and city from the time school got out till it got dark. I didn't have a car, and my mother certainly never drove me anywhere as she had better things to do, so my best friend and I would just walk to wherever we wanted to go, sometimes as much as 5 miles away. I don't know if kids walk that much these days!
Oh, and also for some obvious differences: no cell phones, no iPods, no laptop computers. The TV version of Pong came out when I was a teen -- that was the biggest technology I was exposed to as a kid!
Hope that helped!

I was a teen in the late 80's through the 90's....graduated in '94. Things were a little different...like, we weren't as rude and stupid as the teens are these days. Parents disciplined with out having to worry about CPS knocking at your door. A lot of these young girls dress like street walkers to go to school....we had dress codes but I guess schools are not inforcing that anymore.
Other than what was it like?!?!.....to sum it all up it was fun, challenging, depressing, a wild ride.....it was a time full of emotions and growing up and getting ready for the "real world"....If I could do it all over again, I would!

Too soon to tell.. I'm 23 but I feel like I'm still 18.. Four years of college and a fiancee doesn't shake the teenager out of you that easily.. But it was more confusing then that it is now.. I have less zits and great skin... I don't have to worry about being trendy.. I set my own trend and no more highschool drama.. Now I can just walk away.. but I do miss the dances...

In the 80's....A hi-tech phone was a "Conair slimphone." It had a long curly cord. :) We didn't get a VCR until I was in high school. We watched Miami Vice on Friday nights, and GOOD Saturday Night Live episodes on Saturday nights. If I wanted to see a movie I went to the theater, and was ticked because it was SO MUCH to get in! Like, four dollars! At school, we listened to our teachers because we were mostly afraid of them calling our parents. Nobody was afraid of other kids blowing up the school or bringing in guns -- it was unheard of, pretty much. Oh, and we had big, poofy hair and colored mascara and blue eyeshadow and "pegged" jeans and flourescent shirts with the collars sticking up!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.....
