How often does this happen to you?

Today someone blared their horn at me because he obviously decided to switch lanes AFTER I started pulling out into the empty lane.

I believe I am a very good driver, but I admit, I have been on the wrong a few times on the road, once in a blue moon, I will cut someone off and get yelled at. Don't let it get to you, there is no perfect driver. if someone cuts you off, its almost never intentional. I understand when someone honks and yells at me coz I have been just as mad before. Once you spend a couple of years on the road you realize you have to learn to live and let live. Road rage will not make anything better. Live and Let live

Yes. I am a conservative, defensive driver who constantly gets rude looks from people who drive so dangerously that they should be dead if God was as bent on revenge as I used to be. I refuse to go over the limit unless I'm passing or if the general flow is just slightly higher than legal. I always give one car length for every 10 mph (16 kph) of speed and always pass early without tailgating the driver in front of me. I never tailgate because that is the number one cause of highway accidents plus I took physics in High School/College and know the effect that doubling the speed causes four times the impact.

I always seek out a line of escape so that I can veer off sharply if another driver decides to play NASCAR when changing lanes - at the very least I slow down to give the reckless lane-changer time to pass their next "victim" so they won't hit them from the rear, even if I have to change lanes to do it. And I always signal - case in point - I saw two cars almost hit each other when both went to the center lane from opposite directions - and neither was signalling! Why these a**hole drivers are clueless is beyond me. Perhaps if North America had German-type driving laws only about 50% of those presently driving would still retain that privilege.

But under present rules I think the only way such drivers would have not gotten into such bad driving habits would have been if they had gotten into frequent wrecks when they started learning to drive.

Perhaps if this trend continues (noticeably worse now than 30 years ago) it might be possible for the police/other authorities to send warnings via mail, so that if they see you doing too much of this they yank your license or quadruple your insurance and force that to be collected out of your bank account against your will before you see any of your own money. Second penalty - they confiscate your car - and you can't buy any others - and they'd have frequent roadside checks to make sure nobody was skirting the law helping you out by letting you put the title in their name. Penalty - 30 years in jail, no possibility of parole. While that may sound harsh at least those drivers couldn't kill innocent folk while rotting in prison, could they?

Come to think of it, I'd make a good king!

All the time I just hate it, but I think I decided I don't know how to drive. I can drive better than most but the Bay Area is notorious for crazy drivers!!!

Oh man, that's the worst! I try not to use my horn, because you never know who you're going to run into on the road, and what degree of "road rage" they may have. I'm sorry that someone honked at you when he was in the wrong! That can ruin your day. Try to remember that you didn't do anything wrong! :)

It's happened a time or two but when I looked at the driver they were all crazy on meth or something so I took it with a grain of salt.

there r alot of ignorant and stupid drivers on the road, u just have to learn how to let it go in one ear and out the other. if u don't u will probably develop road rage and then u will b just like them. stay cool.
