Yes unless it was your brake shoes not the pads that needed changing. Or you may have goneto a dishonest shop who took u as a shmuck cuz you are a woman. Sometimes they will know it is your shoes that needed replacing instead/as well as your pads but didnt say n e thing because they knew you would come back in and they would charge you more for 2 separate jobs. I may also be that you have rear and front breaks that needed to be changed... Or you need to have your drums shaved.

Take the car back to the shop if the brakes aren't right.
The pedal should be firm and stopping should be easy.
Possibly the pads didn't get "seated" right. I've had that happen w/new brakes and solved the problem by (in an open, safe area) driving in reverse and slamming on the brakes, then I repeated a few times.
Can't mess w/brakes... bottom line, shop needs to correct the problem.

brake problems are not always solveable by simply replacing pads and rotors. Sometimes master cylinders need repair or replacement as well. Brake lines can sometimes rust and leak fluid, leading to brake problems. Have the whole system checked.

When you use the ceramic disc pads it takes a little breaking in time for full performance of the pads. Shops should be informing customers so they don't go out an wreck the vehicle. So the answer is no if you just put on high quality ceramic pads.

If your brakes are brand new, you will get that "fading feel" when you apply the brakes. Once the brakes "wear in" at least 100 miles or so, you brakes will stop normally again.
good luck
