SNL was at it's funniest when they had Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, David Spade, etc. Some of my favorites are when Chris Farley has to go against Patrick Swayze to try out for Chippendales dancers. I also like when he played the annoying wife who would always bug her husband Hank (played by Adam Sandler)by reading restaurant listings to him. And you gotta love Matt Foley motivational speaker, (livin' in a van down by the river!) 'specially the one with Christina Applegate and David Spade trying so hard not to laugh. And who couldn't love the lunch lady song sung by Adam Sandler and danced to by Chris Farley? Also I gotta recommend Adam Sandler's cd called What the hell happened to me? You'll be rolling! My favorite one was the sex or weight lifting one, and the goat was hilarious, as was the perverted mom who wanted to see what her daughter's been stroking.

I don't remember so much, but watching reruns I know it used to be better, even just a few years ago when Will Ferrell, Molly Shannon, etc were still on it. SNL bugs me now. If they're lucky, 5 skits out of the whole show will be actually funny. The rest of the time they're either lame/stupid, or mediocre funny that gets annoying real quick. It's somewhat the actors, but mostly the writing.

Flat-out funniest all time SNL skit in my opinion was the "Weekend Update" when they had Garret Morris helping to provide the news "for our hearing-impaired listeners".
It can't be explained. If you weren't alive or paying attention at the time of what they were making fun of, you'll never get it. But I truly thought I was going to pee my pants when that one aired, and I still crack up just thinking about it... it was probably the most politically-incorrect skit ever broadcast.
Second would have to be almost anything with Gilda Radner and Jane Curtain trying to tolerate onme another while doing the Wekend Update together.
The skit with Billy Idol and Sinead O'Conner as guests on the Frank Sinatra talk show also leaves my sides hurting every time.

I've been hearing this a lot lately, "Remember when SNL actually had a successful skit?"
At first I agree, until I realize that they are referring to the mind-numbing antics of Sandler or Mike Myers. They weren't funny - and that was like 40 years ago.
SNL used to be funny. With Ferrell, Tina Fey (whoops, there went all the writers), Cheri Oteri, etc.

Adam Sandler had the best songs. I also loved the Church lady, and anything with David Spade.

Baby, I've got to go back further than that.
How 'bout when Eddie Murphy, Joe Piscopo, and Billy Crystal were regulars.
When Eddie did Stevie Wonder & Joe did Frank Sinatra and they sang Ebony & Ivory - "I am black & you are white, you are blind as a bat & I have sight..." I had tears streaming!
