resizing video?

im always dowloading movies..and im always getting this wide screen on it is there a way u can fix it to like get it to full screen i mean lets face it when u burn a dvd u dont want it wide screen on your tv.. i like to see it full screen is there a way u can do that with like avi's or mpeg or anything?
