I'm a teacher. I've been around kids for so many years.....and the truth is, the minute I meet the parents, I totally understand why the kids are the way they are. I don't think it is about "judging people." I think its about understanding people. Kids tend to behave most like what they are used to being around.
I will say that there are some children who just need so much attention. And then I realize when I meet their parents that they are making such mistakes with their children. I give them a million and one suggestions, but I can tell as I'm talking that they are more concerned with how everything effects themselves more than how they effect their kids. It is times like this that I realize that this is why their children are craving so much outward attention. And I fear that they will grow up just like their parents.....and so on....and so on.....and so on.
Then I meet parents who help their children accept responsibility for their behavior and for their learning. And coincidentally, these are the children that are well behaved, that know right from wrong, and can control their impulses.
So certainly....children's behavior and parenting practices definitely go hand in hand. Does this mean we judge either? We actually just understand why they are the way they are.
