What is this 'goldrush' thing people keep talking about? Is it the Neil Young album 'After the Goldrush' ?
Anyway, I believe you are talking about actor Gene and not director Billy, in which case the sidekick would be Richard Pryor (although Gene was married to Gilda Radner and appeared on screen with her).
